I’ve been monitoring offers from budget travel organizations for 2 seasons, and Greece pretty much disappears from the radar around Oct.
Does tourism ignore Greece in “winter” because it closes shop, or does Greece close shop in “winter” because tourism ignores it?

@stazybohorn If you add registered voters mentioned in The Australian to your own estimate of over-18, you get pretty close to the 9.9mio
That would also explain the high number of abstainers given the current electoral laws requiring to vote in original electorate (birthplace)

@keithfrankish Greece not the only country with lax rules, Belgium (my native country) does the same. Yes, we are lovable/infuriating too 
@stazybohorn it’s the official figure from YPES – tr.im/Bks7 – so I thought it MUST include diaspora, just wanted to make sure.
In the 2009 national elections in Greece, 29.08% of registered voters abstained, the second largest group after PASOK voters with 30.33%

Total votes for national elections were little over 7 mio, almost 3 mio votes “missing”. Isn’t voting compulsory in Greece?
Total electorate for the Greek national elections 2009 is said to be 9,933,385. Seems awfully high. Does that include the diaspora?
Small factoid I forgot to mention: 1/2 liter bottle of plain water in Brussels airport: 2.5€ from vending machine, 3€ from shop.
